PATRIZIA KinderHaus Grabouw, South Africa

No country is home to as many HIV-positive people as South Africa. Children are particularly affected by this epidemic, becoming ill themselves or losing parents, often left to fend for themselves as a result.

To help children in South Africa to be able to cope better with their difficult circumstances and face the future with strength, a PATRIZIA KinderHaus was constructed close to Cape Town in collaboration with architecture students from the University of Stuttgart.  There, children affected directly and indirectly by HIV are kept safe until they can return to their families or, if necessary, placed in foster families.
